These bacteria are obligate chemolithotrophs, meaning they derive their energy exclusively from oxidizing inorganic compounds—ammonia and nitrite, respectively—making them uniquely suited for biological filtration in aquatic environments. Blue Shark Colony contains concentrated cultures of these true nitrifiers, which allows for rapid colonization of new aquariums. When introduced, these bacteria quickly establish the biological filtration necessary to process waste, resulting in a much faster cycle compared to relying on natural bacterial growth or other bacterial blends.

In contrast to Nitrosomonas and Nitrobacter, some commercial aquarium products now include “spira” strains (such as Nitrospira), which are also capable of nitrification but are comparatively slower-growing and less efficient under cycling conditions. True nitrifiers like Nitrosomonas and Nitrobacter are superior for rapid cycling because they are adapted to higher ammonia levels and can reproduce quickly in new tanks, making them the preferred choice for Blue Shark.

USE

New koi and ornamental pond start-ups

 Establishing a new biological filter

Adding new koi, goldfish, or other pond fish

 Post-medication biological-filter recovery

 Replacing or deep-cleaning filter media

Pond expansions and increased fish loads

 Freshwater pond quarantine systems

VIDEO

INSTRUCTIONS

Maintain average water temperatures of 23-30°C (74-86°F). It is a first-response tool—not a replacement for correcting the condition that caused the water-quality issue.

VIDEO

INSTRUCTIONS

Initial Application: Ocercomes toxic conditions in pond. 1. Add 1 level scoop (16 g) per 750 liters (200 gal) or water. 2. Pour directly into pond. Maintenance (every two weeks): 1. While maintaning pond, calculate one level scoop (16 g) per 1500 liters (400 gallons) of pond water. CAUTION: Avoid using copper based herbicdes and the overuse of fertilizers. Disconnect UV sterilizers for 4-5 days for each dose.
